The Magwe Region, the second largest of Myanmar's seven divisions, has seen K1.5 billion invested recently according to the Regional Minister for Planning and Development U Zaw Min
The Magwe Region has been benefiting from investments totaling K1.5 billion (approx US$966,000) between Oct 2018 and April 2019 according to the Regional Minister for Planning and Development U Zaw Min.
The Magwe Region is an administrative division in central Myanmar and is the second largest of Myanmar's seven divisions, with an area of 44,820 square kilometres.
As reported in The Myanmar Times, the investments, all from local businesses, created 134 local jobs between October 2018 and April 2019.
"At present, the Magwe Region relies mainly on agriculture and livestock followed by a small share of industrial and logistics," says Colliers International Myanmar.
"Although the region is capable of large-scale infrastructure, various investment sectors remain underdeveloped,"
"By finding ways to provide greater electricity and water supply as well as upgrading and extending transportation routes, the region will be able to draw further interest from investors of other economic areas."
