Colliers International Myanmar says the new Myanmar National Portal, owned by the government, could potentially boost the region's tourism sector.
The new government portal will essentially be a 'go-to destination', with information about Myanmar's history, traditional ceremonies, culture, and government organisations.
Being funded by a World Bank loan of K2.47 billion (which equates to US$1.6 million), the portal will also be a fantastic resource for foreigners, with links to government websites, addresses, and phone numbers.
Colliers International Myanmar says the portal will allow for greater transparency in Myanmar and will be beneficial for the tourism industry.
"Establishing a website where any individual can access to various kinds of information about the country is a step towards further transparency in Myanmar, which would allow foreigners to be well informed about the current events the country’s culture, traditional ceremonies, holidays, and history," Colliers says.
"This would promote foreign confidence in the country, and shed light on different aspects of Myanmar. By doing so, it can potentially boost the hotel and tourism sector since the portal will also increase accessibility for curious potential visitors.
"Players within the sectors should take advantage of this latest website in order to promote themselves on it and propel tourism within the country forward. Additionally, the ability for people engaging in commerce to observe the actions within ministries will allow them to make crucial investment decisions as well," Colliers says.
